Disarming the Victims <— William S. Burroughs

16 Dec

Where do successful mass shootings occur? Public schools where guns are banned, or gun clubs with their "gun culture"?

“Most of the trouble in this world has been caused by folks who can’t mind their own business, because they have no business of their own to mind, any more than a smallpox virus has.”

After a shooting spree, they always want to take the guns away from the people who didn’t do it.

I sure as hell wouldn’t want to live in a society where the only people allowed guns are the police and the military.

You DO know that William S. Burroughs accidentally shot and killed his wife with a handgun in 1951, right? He’s famous for writing trippy novels and being a heroin junkie. Which I suppose is fine, if that’s what he was into, but he’s not exactly someone I’d consider a “go-to guy” on 2nd Amendment rights issues.

I doubt there’s a single person in any quote list who doesn’t have something I’d disagree with, have done things I consider foolish or even abhorrent, et cetera. The point with any seroius quotation is the argument made, not the speaker, per se. The latter is, at best, argumentum ad verecundiam.
