Rob from the Poor and Give to the Rich <- Douglas Casey

The hundreds of billions wasted on foreign aid go straight into the pockets of the tyrants

That’s where all the foreign aid (which might be defined as a transfer from poor people in rich countries to rich people in poor countries) went as well.

The U.S. government still squanders about $20 billion a year this way, and European governments spend proportionally even more; it’s all gone straight down a giant rathole.

All War is Folly

In war, wealth is consumed, property and lives destroyed. This is never, ever a good thing. Imagine how much more wealth and life there would be today, without the cumulative losses of history's wars. All Wars are Follies, very expensive, and very mischievous ones. When will Mankind be convinced of this, and agree to settle their Differences by Arbitration? Were they to do it, even by the Cast of a Dye, it would be better than by Fighting and destroying each other.

Benjamin Franklin, Letter to Mary Hewson, Jan. 27. 1783
